To awaken the kundalini you must really be genuine in your desire to grow spiritually. Notice I did not say you need to be perfect, you just need to have perfect desire.
It will be important to learn to trust yourself and your intuition. Follow the path that is right for you, not the one that someone else has given you. When you are seeking for the kundalini to rise what you are really seeking is help in gaining more spiritual guidance and awareness. Although the kundalini rising will increase your intuition and many of your senses, it is not the end all in your spiritual journey.
When my kundalini awakened over 16 years ago it was one of the most profound experiences in my life. I felt I had been given some proof that there is something beyond and for the first time I was able to feel, hear and see it. Being given that kind of confirmation is one of the biggest gifts of kundalini.
I am sure like you I have read many articles that talk about preparing for the kundalini to rise. You are told to eat a raw diet, meditate, and do all the things that spiritual people should do. I am here to tell you that isn’t true. None of us are expected to be perfect and none of us are. I certainly wasn’t perfect when my kundalini activated and you don’t need to be either. What I did have was a pure, honest, intent to know more and to learn all I could about life and myself. This was the most important thing that is needed to awaken your kundalini.
If you come to this idea like a child, making your mistakes, having your temper tantrums, and beginning over and over, you will awaken your kundalini. I believe that the kundalini is stirred long before it rises. Once you have the desire to learn more and expand yourself spiritually, the process has already begun. The actual awakening is just a by product of this.
The practice I used was concentrated meditation on my chakras. This was something that I was very naturally drawn to do. It doesn’t mean that it is the only way or the way for you. Trusting yourself and finding the practice that feels familiar and right to you is the most important aspect of this journey.
The list of spiritual practices is a long one and you need to choose the one that is right for you. There is breath work, silent retreats, chakras meditations, yogic practices, mindfulness practices, selflessness, to name a few. Trust yourself to know which is right for you. It will feel like you have done this before.
I personally was always drawn to chakras. I had a fascination with learning about them and practicing on seeing them visually and sensing them physically. When you find the practice that is right for you, you won’t even have to read about it, you will just start doing it and be surprised when you do read about it, that you already know it.
I began my practice of meditating on my chakras every night before I would go to sleep. Don’t buy into the idea that you need to sit up and be uncomfortable, that’s not true either. When I meditated I always did it lying down and was completely comfortable. I never dreaded my meditations like some people do because their back and hamstrings are killing them. I would generally start the practice by imagining a pillar of light coming down from above me. In my minds eye I would see it coming down from the heavens and entering my 1000 petal crown chakra located several feet above my head. As this white light would enter this chakra it would be like it was coming alive. I would imagine the petals dropping open and expanding as it filled with this light. Once the chakra in my mind was filled as full as it could be it would begin to spin clock wise clearing out anything that was held there in my energy field. Now I would continue the practice pulling that light down into The crown of my head opening that deep purple chakra the same exact way, as it filled it would start to turn clock wise and I would imagine it clearing out anything that was held there. Next I would draw the light down into my third eye, I would imagine it going out from between my eyes and also out behind my head. This signifies seeing both behind and ahead of you. I would imagine this light purple chakras filling and expanding and eventually spinning clock wise. The next center is the throat chakra, a beautiful aqua color, I imagine the light coming down and filling and expanding my throat chakra, when it can hold no more light it begins to spin clock wise. Continue on now to your heart chakra, this is an important one. I often would spend more time here. this is the chakra that connects the upper and lower energy centers. As you fill this center with light you imagine it expanding in an apple green color all the way across your chest. Take extra time to fill this chakra with as much light as it can hold and imagine it to be bigger than all of the rest. Once it is full imagine it spinning and dislodging anything that may be held here in your heart. Moving on now into the lower three energy centers we start with the solar plexus. this yellow energy center is the container of our will. It holds a lot of personal power. Imagine the light filling this center as it expands covering our whole stomach area. Once it is full it begins to spin clock wise. Next we draw the light into our sacral chakra, filling and expanding it until it spins clock wise. And finally, we reach the base, the root chakra. Not only do we fill it and imagine it spinning, but we also imagine releasing anything we picked up along the way down and send it out through this energy center back into the earth from where it came from. Take your time here, really imagine releasing anything that doesn’t belong. You may actually feel a tingling and movement at the perineum as you release this energy. After completing this process it is important to ground yourself to the earth. There are two more chakras that are brown and located on the balls of each of your feet. Imagine that these two chakras are like the roots of a tree. See them growing deeper and deeper until they hit the center of the earth where you grab on and let them root in. Once you have fully rooted draw the energy of the earth back up through your feet and send it through each one of your chakras and out the top of your head. Now the process is complete. Often times I would repeat this process several times. You will find it to be a very effective meditation that will help you let go of daily thoughts and concerns. This is the practice I was using when my kundalini awakened.
On my website Your pain is my pain I have several blogs that have practices that I have used. How Chakras Affect Your Destiny, Knowing Yourself, and the personal account of my Kundalini Rising. Best of luck to you on your journey.
